Leaders of the Screen Actors Guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers agreed on Wednesday to extend their current round of contract talks through May 2, they said in a joint statement.
Bargaining toward a new deal between the union and the producers’ group began on April 15. The actors’ current contract expires on June 30.
The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, another actors’ union, said separately that it had agreed at the producers’ request to delay the beginning of its own contract negotiations until May 5.
The federation, whose contract also expires at the end of June, had expected to begin talks next Monday.
